OUR CURRICULUM

1: PROGRAMING

Exposure to a variety of different training methodologies and concepts through weekly discussion and hands-on practical experience. There will be an ongoing process of developing an all-encompassing training program for a particular sport assigned. This will be conducted as multiple short projects throughout the whole semester and various roundtable discussions focusing on the underpinnings of a complete training program. The comprehensive program will include a sport needs-analysis, annual plan, warm-ups, and the subsequent strength, speed, agility, and conditioning training sessions.

2: MOVEMENT SELECTION

Coaches will be provided opportunities to develop their ability to articulate movement patterns from a regression and progression standpoint. Allowing ample opportunity for a better understanding of return to play and modifications that are necessary for an acute or chronic injury.

3: PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE

Individuals will be exposed to multiple performance technology systems used by the sports performance department that include but are not limited to Hawkin Dynamics dual force plates and GymAware VBT software. Volunteers will participate in continued education lectures to become more knowledgable on proper implementation and usage of velocity based training and dual force plate systems in the sport setting.

4: DATA & PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Volunteers may be asked to assist in the collection, reporting and monitoring of all performance data obtained through team and individual evaluations on a weekly basis. Coaches will become fluent in the process of the department's baseline movement screening procedures.
