OUR CURRICULUM
1: COACHING
Lead warm ups, cool downs and lifts
Develop your ability to analyze and coach Olympic lifts and all other primary and accessory lifts
Advance your coaching, communication and motivation skills – work on interpersonal skills
2: PROGRAMMING & PERIODIZATION
Discuss the basics of periodization (various training cycles, periodization styles, applying stress, etc.)
Cover variables involved in programming
Assign each intern a sport team scenario that they will then research and write a periodized training program for, covering training during the off-, pre-, in- and post-season
Discuss modifying programs based on current/past injuries, training age, sex and sport
3: TECHNOLOGY
Develop your ability to use excel to write training programs and create work out templates, databases and reports to communicate student-athletes' development
Experience using VALD Performance’s force plates for jump testing
Learn how internal (Firstbeat - Heart Rate) and external load (Catapult Playertek GPS) monitoring can be used to manage training loads and recovery
Learn to use EliteForm and implement velocity based training (VBT)
