OUR CURRICULUM
1: INTERNSHIP 101
Intern coaches are provided a foundation for success within the internship. This includes: Language of coaching, strength progressions 101, linear and multi-directional speed progressions 101, performance testing familiarization, coaching principles 101, and more.
2: STRENGTH AND POWER PROGRAM DESIGN AND APPLICATION
A thorough review of current strength and power training methods and practical applications to a variety of populations for performance enhancement. This will also include practical sessions where student interns will experience and coach basic and advanced training methods.
3: LINEAR AND MULTI-DIRECTIONAL SPEED
A thorough review of current speed training methods and practical applications to a variety of populations for performance enhancement. This will also include practical sessions where student interns will experience and coach basic and advanced training methods.
4: ENERGY SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT
A thorough review of current bioenergetics training methods and practical applications to a variety of populations for performance enhancement. This will also include practical sessions where student interns will experience and coach basic and advanced training methods.
5: PERIODIZATION AND PROGRAM DESIGN
A thorough review of periodization theory practical applications to a variety of populations for performance enhancement. Student interns will complete a project case study program using an example from our varsity teams and present it to our staff at the end of the semester.
6: CHALK TALKS
Intern coaches will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from other members of the athletic department via 60 minute bi-weekly chalk talks. This will include administrators, heads coaches, academic advisors, dietitians, mental health providers, and more.
7: PRACTICAL COACHING
Intern coaches will have opportunities to assist and in some cases lead performance program implementation with varsity sports teams. Most interns will engage in multiple hours daily or real time coaching interaction.
