OUR CURRICULUM

 

1: PERIODIZATION BASICS

Discussion: Periodization Basics (Macrocycles, Training Variables, Importance of Stress, etc.)

Presentation: NCAA Compliance for Athletic Performance Staff

Assignment: Assign each intern a sport to begin researching background of sport, needs analysis, gameplay, etc.

2: ENERGY SYSTEMS

Discussion: Energy Systems

Presentation: Strength Coaches Relationship with Nutrition Staff

Assignment: Write a (very raw) 4 Week Training Plan

3: PROGRAMING CONCEPTS

Discussion: Programming Concepts (Linear, Undulating, Block, Conjugate, etc.)

Presentation: Strength Coaches Role with Athletic Medicine and Rehab

Assignment: Assigned Sport Anthropometric Data/Athlete Profile/Testing Standards, etc.

 

4: ADVANCED PROGRAMING MODELS

Discussion: Advanced Programming Models (TriPhasic, VBT, Tier System, 5/3/1, Clusters, etc.)

Presentation: Interns lead interns/staff on their own warm-ups and speed/plyos/agility

Assignment: Assigned sport (basic) nutritional needs

5: SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY

Discussion: Sports Psychology

Presentation: Interns lead interns/staff on clean/squat/deadlift

Assignment: Assigned needs analysis (Biomechanics, Physiology, Injuries, Contraindications, etc.)

6: ACL RETURN TO PERFORMANCE

Discussion: ACL Return to Performance Possible Protocol

Presentation: Interns Presentation (Topics are TBD)

Assignment: Assigned Sport Annual Calendar/General Macro Chart/Detailed Macro Table

 

7: PLYOMETRICS

Discussion: Plyometrics & Advanced Plyometrics

Presentation: Interns Presentation (Topics TBD)

Assignment: Resume enhancement and interview prep ("What's Next?")

8: AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGY

Discussion: Available Technology for Athletic Performance

Presentation: Intern Book Presentation (Book TBD)

Assignment: Assigned Sport 4-Week Training Plan (Incoming Recruit, before campus arrival); 4-Week Training Plan (Returner, middle of off-season); 4-Week Training Plan (Starter, early in-season); 4-Week Training Plan (Starter, post-season)
