🎥 THE STRENGTH COACH’S DILEMMA - DR. JOHN WAGLE

Dr. John Wagle presents ‘The Strength Coach’s Dilemma’ at My Momentum Seminar ‘21. Leading a conversation on strategic professional development, John exposed the ‘fools gold’ that distracts developing coaches while offering ideas to gather breadth and depth in areas that matter most. Check out the show notes below the video as well as the free resource associated with this presentation.

SHOW NOTES:

  • What time, energy and resources are you allocating to activities that serve the immediate vs the long term

  • Breadth of knowledge, skills and abilities establishes a wide foundation needed for long term success and leadership

  • Depth of knowledge, skills and abilities in a specific area may answer an organizational need when it comes to the hiring process

  • Grind less, go deep. Learn about topics that interest you the most. Don’t think about whether they are relevant to your career

  • Consider using tools like Obsidian or Roam Research that link your note-taking through a series of interconnected webs (Zettelkasten Method)

  • Choosing the right developmental opportunity is a critical step in career development (check out our blog post on this exact topic)

  • Be 100% present where you are no matter your ‘status’. Internship coordinators view intern coaches as an extension of their staff and expect them to act accordingly
