2: SNATCH AND CLEAN AND JERK

Olympic lifts are important to our program, and we want our interns to be experienced in executing as well as coaching them. We cover the fundamentals and the technique of these two lifts to ensure that interns are able to start coaching in a manner consistent with the full-time staff as soon as possible.

3: ENERGY SYSTEMS

We will discuss energy systems and how they influence training and programming.

4: EXERCISE SELECTION

Interns will gain a rudimentary knowledge of how to choose the exercises they incorporate in their programming, different theories on how to make these choices, and elements to consider when choosing exercises.

5: SPEED AND AGILITY

Interns will learn definitions, theories, and techniques regarding speed and agility training for collegiate athletes.

6: PERIODIZATION

This topic summarizes the multitude of theories and methods regarding how to structure training for athletes to realize optimal results.

7: PROGRAM DESIGN

Here we discuss how to put all the pieces together and create a comprehensive and effective program for student-athletes. We place great emphasis on the fact that one size does not fit all, and that there are numerous ways to be successful in program design.

8: NUTRITION

We cover basic nutritional information to help interns realize and respect the importance of nutrition in performance. In this topic we cover additional elements affecting performance such as sleep, hydration, alcohol consumption, and PEDs.

9: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Lastly, interns learn how to create resumes and portfolios, behave during interviews, enhance coaching networks, and develop interpersonal skills to help them succeed in life after our program. Our ultimate goal is to get our interns to the next level in the field, and we believe this is an essential piece in the developmental progression of an intern.
