OUR CURRICULUM

 

1: COACHING CONSIDERATIONS

In these sessions, interns will learn how to properly spot, coach on the floor including effective cueing and positioning for maximum efficiency, and how to properly warm-up and prepare for a training session.

2: POWERLIFTING MOVEMENTS

In these sessions, interns will learn how to perform the main strength exercises (squat, bench, deadlift) and their many variations. They will also learn how to identify faults and teach student-athletes how to perform these exercises safely.

3: WEIGHTLIFTING MOVEMENTS

In these sessions, interns will learn how to perform the weightlifting movements (Clean, Jerk, Snatch) and the derivatives. They will also learn how to identify faults and teach student-athletes how to perform these exercises safely.

 

4: PROGRAMMING PRINCIPLES

In these sessions, interns will learn the basics of programming for both strength and energy system development, exercise selection as well as an overview of developing an annual plan as it relates to sport in college athletics. They will also be tasked with developing a 16 week strength and conditioning program for an assigned sport and present it to our staff for critique and revision.

5: SPEED/COD

In these sessions, interns will lean how our programs integrate speed and change of direction training into the overall strength and conditioning program.

6: TECHNOLOGY

In these sessions, interns will be introduced to the various technology our staff uses on a daily or weekly basis. They will learn how to operate and troubleshoot the equipment as well as get hands-on experience implementing its use into the programming. They also get an overview of the how and why we use the technology.
