OUR CURRICULUM

 

1: PROGRAM DESIGN

Interns will be taught periodization approaches for single season development integrated into a quadrennial cycle for Olympic athletes. Special attention on tapering and peaking during a long and difficult competition season.

2: ATHLETE MONITORING

Interns will be taught how to utilize technology to monitor athlete progress, fatigue, and training readiness on a daily basis. An emphasis on ways to organize and present data in a way that is easy for coaches and other staff members to read and comprehend.

3: ATHLETE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Interns will learn the ins and outs of our AMS and how to deploy successful dashboards to convey meaningful information to staff and athletes. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn how to program in our programming application to deliver workouts to remote athletes and traveling teams.

4: TECHNOLOGY & DEVICE CARE AND SET UP

Interns will be responsible for charging, cleaning, effective set-up and take-down of certain technology and devices utilized during pre-lift screening, sprint sessions, velocity based training, and aerobic/anaerobic capacity testing.

5: APPLICATION

Interns will have the opportunity to implement their acquired knowledge and skills with  developmental teams at some point during the season, if the intern can proficiently  demonstrate coaching and programming abilities to staff.

6: CULMINATING PROJECT

Intern will select a topic of interest to present on to the USS staff at some point during their internship. Presentation must be relevant to our program, presented professionally, and attempt to contribute to the advancement of the organization and our efforts to pursue athletic excellence.
