OUR CURRICULUM

 

1: UNIVERSITY MCKEEFERY

An introduction to the University of Washington Football and Coach McKeefery's philosophy. You will learn and apply practically the principles, program, and process behind running an S&C program at the Division I, Power 5 level. Beyond the X's and O's of S&C, you will develop the skills and resume that has proven to help 100+ coaches go on to successfully navigate a career in S&C.

2: NUTRITION

Assist the football nutrition staff in monitoring all fueling stations, including the Weight Room Fueling Station, Recovery Shake Shack, Training Table, Indoor Practice Facility, Nutrition Storage Closets and Cages.

3: SPORTS SCIENCE

Administration and implementation of the different types of technologies UW football utilizes (Catapult, Perch, Hawkins Force Plate, Reflexion).

 

4: MOVEMENT PROGRESSION

Interns will be educated on movement progressions that enhances athletic capabilities. Interns will also learn prescriptive programming based on theories of athletes training age and what best fit the demands of football.

5: PERIODIZATION

Explore various modalities in programming ranging from linear to conjugate method. Various labs will be used to explore the many concepts of training.

6: ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT

Interns will learn the different methods of athletic development consisting of acceleration mechanics, speed mechanics, plyometrics, energy system development, and performance preparation.

 

7: WEIGHTLIFTING 101

Interns will go through an extensive course on the Olympic lifts ie. Clean and Jerk progression, Snatch Progression, and all the accessories used to excel at the Olympic lifts.

8. NETWORKING

The Internship will provide opportunity to network with other coaches in the industry and also on site visits to other institutions/teams in the Seattle area to build a network within the community. You will also develop performance skills through various labs to provide a platform to retain information.
